Mexico Expat Forum

The tired, endless, going no where political Topic.

I am for discussing anything that affects expats and for providing/sharing information with expats. I personally have benefitted from responses to other people's Topics as well as the helpful information provided to mine.

On most topics raised dealing with the current US Administration and the potential or real impact on expats, the discussions have been brief and civil However, the Topic "Effects of policies of new administration on lives of expats living in Mexico?" has gone too far, too long, IMO.

It is often going onto tangents. Certain people consistently use denigrating name calling in their argument thinking this gives greater weight to their comment or makes it seem more accurate. It does neither.

I have made a few comments on the Topic, but have largely desisted since it has become, IMO, an abomination.

I eagerly look for other posts of interest. However, they seem [could be my perception] to have become fewer.

I wish there was a way to just table that discussion. It is, again IMO, serving no useful purpose.

I have asked the moderator to look into it. But, so far see that it is still going strong.

Again, I have no problem, in fact I believe it's a good idea, to discuss how the current political situation has on expats. But, have it reasonable, polite, informational. Then, TABLE it.

Perhaps I'm the only one who feels this way. But this "feeding frenzy" Topic is far from what I expected from this forum.

It seems no matter what the thread, or social media outlet, there are people who want to use it for their political ideology. There are forums for political opinion all over the net. Go there, for the political rants and opinionating, and stay there if you must stay at it.

I agree. I took a week off from reading any of the form. Everything was poisoned for me. When I came back it's worse. I'm going to try month and see. If it's not better by then I'll unsubscribe..

Looks to me like the thread died last night with the words "you've managed to shut down a politically subversive thread" Anyway, someone threw a bucket of cold water on me and I realized that I was feeding that agenda....so I stopped. And went to the beach. And will remain largely on the sidelines henceforth. (hold your applause) Happy blogging!

Ah, a thread seeking to destroy another thread.,with that as its stated goal. Fascinating. Kind of mirrors our society these days. I think we've found the 'Get Off My Lawn' piece here. Or, in this case, 'Get that ugly pink statue off your lawn. Its ruining the property values.'

And WW, turn off your endless loop of 'Hotel California' and look up 'sarcasm' and 'irony' in Websters.

Me too, I live in America and am trying to move to Mexico and subscribed to this to get information regarding moves to Mexico. If I wanted to know what was going on or peoples opinions of Trump I would turn on the news or read the fracking Facebook posts, No, just no. Overtime I see the title "Effects" pop up in my email of Expat Exchange I automatically delete them with out even reading.

That is what I signed up for as well. I am trying to figure out how to get the move done. Entanglements at home that I need to lose or change to make manageable from there.
