I'm spending several weeks in SMA this summer. While there, I want to take a couple of short trips: specifically: Merida, PV & Puebla. I'd like to travel first class & take the most direct routes possible. What bus line would you recommend departing from SMA for comfort & safety? ADO...or? And what's the best way to buy advance tickets? Muchas gracias...Barb,

First class is not the most luxurious, so look for Executivo, or other really nice buses for anything other than a short trip. Some have only 3 seats wide, sandwiches, movies, WIFI, etc. You may search their routes and schedules online, or make a visit to the bus station to have a look at the buses and schedules, as well as ask specific questions. Mexican luxury buses are fantastic.

You said short trips .... I would look at a map right now.

Valarta is a full day with change in Guad, The other are close to double that

Different bus lines for diffrent parts of Mexico. Go to the bus station and look around

Air travel within MX is amazingly cheap, unless u are just hankering for bus ride..We took bus from SMA to Guadalajara last spring, not that good scenery, and some very narrow highways with semi's going very fast. The bus itself is spacious..Check flights between Leon + GDL to Cancun/Merida..
