a year in morocco

i have the opportunity to move to morocco for a year to work and i'm utterly confused. aside from having a DAY to make this decision. i just wonder if i'll be happy. my job, itself, is a tiny question.

but how is the country anyway? i'm not an ignorant, selfish, bubble tourist. i've traveled a lot and i love doing as the locals do. but a year is hard.

also, how do moroccans see/treat americans? asians? i'm asian-american. and how about women? i'm that too.

i'm a bit of a wandering spirit. will i have trouble if i wander the streets alone?

thanks and sorry for all the dumb questions.

IF I were you, I would jump on this opportunity. Despite being a 3rd world country, Morocco has a lot to offer in terms of culture, people, and also fun.
IF you end up in big cities like Casablanca, Marakesh, Tangiers, Agadir, Meknes, Fes or Rabat, You won't have a problem as an woman who happens to be American and of Asian-decent. Due its proximity to Europe, you can take advantage and take off during long weekends and holidays etc.. It's also close to exotic destinations like Mali, Senegal, and egypt etc..
There is a large Anglo-Saxon community in Marakesh, Casa, and Tangiers; so you won't feel alone. French and Spanish expats are all over the big cities, especially Casa, Marakesh, Tangiers, Fes, Rabat and Agadir.
If you speak French your life would be much easier. If you don't, you can always learn it or learn Moroccan Darija Dialect as it will help you get by everywhere. GO to borders and you will find plenty of those books.
If you have further questions, I ll be happy to help.

So I'm curious, did you make the move to Morocco for the year? I'm planning to move to Morocco myself for the year and would be interested in your experiences.

I am an Asian woman living in Rabat for 2 years and 8 months already...

The country is treating me well and the people are nice..

No one will harm you here.. Expect hi hao or konnichiwa greetings coz they have a hard time recognizing which Asian country are you from..

anyway, have a nice trip..if you're still in the US..and if you're here, I hope you already adjusted yourself in living here..
