Retirement for Americans

Post New Topic

I'm looking at Morocco as a go country to settle in for my retirement. However, I've out little about what others have experienced moving to Morocco. Are there other retired Americans that can help fill me in? I'm looking to rent a studio apartment and perhaps do some part-time work. Thanks, Ronald

Maybe you should contact someone who lives in Marrakech. Perhaps someone on this website:http://www.expat-blog.com/en/nationalities/american/in/africa/morocco/marrakech/

There are people listed for other cities should you not want to live in Marrakech.

Please be aware that you normally need a work permit to work for a company in Morocco. I believe there are age restrictions on work permits for foreigners. Otherwise people turn to things like teaching English or music on a part-time basis.

This cost of living index might also be helpful. Again, although this is for Marrakech, they do have versions for other cities in Morocco:

Is there an age limit on English teachers in Morocco? What type of wages are English teachers paid in Morocco?

Assalam alaikum, Zohor, I've a different question, but related to this one. I know for a fact that once a Moroccan (my wife's brother) has reached retirement age, they can no longer work, because they have to leave jobs for new and existing teachers. Morocco has just recently changed the retirement age from 60 to 65.

This is my question, about how much do Moroccan teachers receive in retirement? I've tried to get that info from my wife's family, but they don't talked about stuff like that. Inshallah, when I do retire, me and my wife may retire in Morocco.

Shukran, for any info!

I have read that Morocco doesn't grant work visa to people over 58 y.o. If that true? If so, can ex pats over 58 teach English in Morocco?
