Any advice on which type of CRB check is required from the U.K. for a residents permit, is a basic one sufficient and also has anyone managed to pass a Moroccan driving test. I am planning to move and would like to be resident and will need a car. I speak fluent Arabic so guess that may help?

I came across this myself too. The UK Govt only states that a CRC (aka CRB) is required.( to show any criminal record/ civil offences etc.) It's called a "conviction history" held on the PCN which is the National database. (This is different from the CRB check that one has for employment or working with children / vunerable people). You can also get a local police record but this really only tells what contact you have had with the police locally ie: reporting a crime, making statements etc. I would imagine that the National CRC is what is required. I am going to ask the Moroccan Consulate in UK if they can elaborate ie give advice on what offences (if any) would cause refusal and/or if very old/historical offences would be overlooked.
