" We are considering a permanent move to the Algarve region of Portugal. My husband Dave used to be in the R.A.F. and therefore we have both lived and travelled the world extensively. Dave is currently an I.T.Manager in a College and I used to be a secretary before an injury stopped me working. We are both in our early fifties and love to travel, explore and meet other people. I read your email at expatexchange.com about moving to the Algarve. I am a retired US Navy pilot currently living in Alaska. My wife (Sharon) and I are planning an extended trip (2 to 3 years)to Europe next year and would very much like to hear how your relocation went, if you continue to live in Portugal and if you found any expat support groups in the area. We have booked two weeks at a resort in the Algarve and one week near Lisbon for the Fall of 2003. We plan to winter in the Portugal/Spain area and then establish a home base in Italy. We are in our middle 50's (her) and early 60's (me).
