" Just recently, I have been incredibly frustrated trying to buy E-tickets for airline travel in the states. The Internet travel sites wanted me to pick up my confirmation at their local, brick & mortar travel agency (they have none in Bangkok) or mail it to a US address. Argh! I thought the whole point of the E-ticket was no paper... I have had very good luck on the Internet purchasing gifts. It is very costly to ship things to the US from overseas, so I order gifts online. I''ve sent books to friends, steak to my father, wine to my father in law, etc. And it doesn''t require much thinking in advance on my part. I have ordered books on line to be delivered to me in Thailand. It''s quite a wait. We also ordered a left handed guitar, but that was delivered to a friend in the states who brought it to us, postage from the states was just too expensive. "

" We buy books and bras and gifts, especially wedding gifts. Weddingchannel.com has made it easy for us three times to purchase from the bride''s registry, pack, enclose card, and send to a USA address. As for the bras, it isn''t that I need 50,000 of the things. But my size in an expensive brand is a ton cheaper on line. Sidestep.com has come up with some great airline tickets. And several .coms have sleuthed out-of-print books we had to have. "

" Oh, that is so funny about the bras! Glad I''m not alone. I do buy mostly gifts online though. Not only do you save on shipping, but you don''t have to worry about things getting stolen in the mail (like a wedding present I once tried to send home) or having to pay customs duties. I have ordered things like books for myself online and had them sent to friends or family who are on their way to visit. Also, Amazon.fr has some english things and Amazon.UK, although still a bit more expensive, has a wider range of English books and there still isn''t the customs problem since it''s still Europe. Unfortunately, there are still a lot of places that don''t ship overseas at all. I''m thinking mostly for clothes. I desperately need new shoes, but wear a wide width. The only wide shoes in France are for my grandmother. Yuck! But naturalizer won''t even send me a catalog overseas! Any suggestions on that would be greatly appreciated, although I''ll be home in September to shop in person. Yippee! "

" The poll was a bit misleading. I would have checked at least three and CDs/VHS/DVD wasn''t even listed. Nor was computer items. I am sitting at the CPU, just purchased on line from Dell, viewing an AOI MicroScan 17, purchased at a Dutch auction from Online.com(now Egghead.com), listening to CDs bought and won on Amazon, Ebay, Half.com and Yahoo auctions, with VHS near my feet, two China guides from barnesandnoble.com next to my Astec Lansing speakers, purchased from an individual, watching a fax come in on my Panasonic while getting ready to scan a picture on my HWP 4200 and then print some items out on my HWP 880C DeskJet. Earlier today I sent a greeting card to a ladyfriend from Yahoo.com and another to my closest sister from Msn.com. There is a survey waiting to be completed from HarrisPolls.com. I will check the news on Yahoo.com as well as MSN.com, vote on legal issues at Courttv.com and check my few investments on Schwab.com, maybe making a trade in the process. Finally, I''ll verify my records from the bank at xxx.com and then pay my BellSouth.com phone bill via ETF online. I don''t buy food online yet. Prescriptions are mailed to me from Walgreens.com. Officedepot.com keeps my printer ready to go with a replacement deskjet.cartridge. I''ll thank my CPA via note on email....... What kind of products and services do I NOT buy on line or at least view? That is the question. Alan "
