I want to move to Ecuador in 2015 or 2016 and would like to practice a few more years. I got the impression from Ecuador.com tha I could do this

I think it's very likely. If not, you'll have to go through the diploma conversion chain...

Example: a Chilean dentist can't practice in the UK. He can, however, get his diplomas converted into Spanish diplomas, which can be converted into UK diplomas.

Check out the visa information at http://cancilleria.gob.ec/requisitos-para-solicitud-de-visas-no-inmigrantes-e-inmigrantes/?lang=en. A professional visa might work, but I don't work in visas. You may want to ask a lawyer - I can recommend a few.

I doubt very, very, very much. Ecuadorian vet can not work in the states without first taking ECFVMG exam and then state licensing exam. Some states even require one year long and not paid (!) intership. If I remember well the only exception from the above requirements for the foreing vet graduates is for those from Veterinary Medicine School in Utrecht, Holland.

Here is an opportunity for veterinary volunteers - maybe they can give you some first hand info about starting a practice here. (Copy and paste into your browser).

the short answer is yes! You will have to register as a business and pay tax on income, and you masy have to jump thru a small hoop to get your liscence translated to Spanish and apostiled here. The best is talk to a qualified attorney. I know you can because there are a very few . A WORD.....YOU WILL BE SWAMPED BY BUSINESS IF YOU ARE HOOD, BECAUSE THE VETS HERE MOSTOLY GET THEIR LISCENCES OUT OF CRACKER JACK BOXES. THE AMOUNT OF ANIMAL SUFFERING DUE TO BARBARIC veterinary medicine is appalling, the lack of proper education for vets is apalling. Most vets learn on cows and horses, and transfer the knowledge to dogs and cats poorly. The main university in Loja (the ONLY veterinary lab in the entire province) currrently has no test for distemper, none for feline leukemia, and when I had my dog 's blood tested for something else they sent me 3 test results from opther animals, not my dog. Please please please move here, I will encourage you with all the information I have, I have been here since 2010. All foreigners end up with dogs and cats, by the hald dozen, they come suffering and abandoned to our doors. The community here in Vilcabamba and Loja could easily support a new well trained vet, especially one with a wholistic inclination balance approach between allopathic and alternative veterinary mediciine. There is one spophistaicated vererinary Surgeon in Cuenca, who was not ecucated in Ecuador, but in Mexico. He is great, but not at all wholistic, and 4 hours by car from Loja. My email is [email protected]. I know good attorneys who we can ask your question, they do not charge for simple questions here. I am from Hawaii, love Ecuador, live in the best climate in Ecuador, great community, fabulous sweet expats in this sacred valley of Longevity. Tons of organic food, no chem trails, no GMO, great prople, conscious aware people, great quality of life. Please bring great pet care to this community.
