I call from Yokohama in Japan to my boyfriend in Nevada. Since he doesn't have voip app in his cell phone, my phone bills are quite high, like 10000yen per month which is almost $100. What are the best cheap international calls?

Get your boyfriend to download the Magic Jack Free App. Once you both have the App loaded and you each register each other in your Magic Jack Contact List, you can call each other for FREE on your smartphones.. Or talk on Skype for Free.

The easiest way and cheapest is just to use SKYPE on your computer , charge it up with some money (if dialing to a phone) and call.

i experienced skype, but somehow they have bad connections between virginia and tokyo (i also often call to JP). so i switched to global call. its not as popular as skype and magic jack though the rates are awesome. plus they run many promotions.(http://www.techgyd.com/global-call-voip-calling-service-prefer-skype/10971/)

Yeah, GC is decent. Since skype doesn't work as good as before, people are switching to other apps. I never heard about Smartgroschen app though, GC provides pretty good rate.

Thank you all for the information. I searched about the apps you guys suggested. And I found that Global Call would be the best for my use. I downloaded and participated the pizza event(http://www.globalcallevent.com/pizza_event/pizza_w/en/pizza_w.html), and my boyfriend in US doubled the credit amount(http://www.globalcall-1plus1.com/event_w/en/event_w.html).
