Where should I live for a year

Hello,
My wife and I are in the early stages of preparing to move abroad for a year beginning early 2016. We are still deciding on where. Also how! We are ready to leave the rat race and live in Costa Rica, Belize, Panama, or somewhere similar. I want to live cheaper and LIVE a more adventurous life. We just need some advice on where, how much money should we have to make it a year without much work. We also have a 1 yr old son. Any young expats out here that habe a similar story please advise. We are really eager and ready to start planning. Thanks.
