semi-retirement

I'm a therapist/licensed addictions counselor with a private practice in MN. I need/want to work in either field but only need a living wage as i do have some retirement, but not enough to live off of to the finish line. I speak conversational Spanish and need to be someplace warm, cuz, man, I've had enough of freezing during the winter. Any advice at all will be appreciated.

You have to do your own homework dakotabker.

The first step is to determine which countries you have much chance of getting a visa for that will allow you to work legally. Then look at those countries and try to determine which look like countries you might like living in.

While I don't know which countries an addiction counselor can qualify for entry to, I would imagine that language is going to be a big barrier. How can you counsel someone if you can't speak to them well enough to get real messages across? Conversational anything would not be enough to do that in my opinion.

Google is your friend and nowadays there is almost nothing you can't find answers for with a simple Google search. Search for 'International addiction counselor jobs' and you get this:
https://www.google.ca/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&rlz=1C1CHZL_enCA704CA704&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=international%20addiction%20counselor%20jobs

To narrow it down, add the name of the country you are considering and get something like this:

By the way, needing to 'earn a living wage' is NOT semi-retirement. It's full time work. 'Semi-retirement' is when you do not NEED to work to eat but CHOOSE to work at something because you enjoy doing it, not because you need the money.

Thanks for taking the time with that response.
My plan is to improve my language skills enough to counsel, although there are some English speaking treatment programs. AND to take advantage of folks like you who provide the good guidance to see were it takes me.
Again, much appreciated.
