Possibilities for American expat women who want to go home to give birth?

Hi Everyone,

I am an American living in South Korea with my Korean husband. We are thinking about possibly starting a family in 2-3 years, though certainly not immediately.

For a few different reasons, I would really prefer not to give birth in Korea. However, I am not finding much information on what it takes financially and logistically to go back to the U.S. to give birth.

Has any American here gone home to have a baby? Did you find some way to arrange health insurance to cover the end of your pregnancy and delivery? Or did you pay for it out of pocket? I feel like I can't be the only person who has wanted to do this, but I'm finding very little specific information.

I read about pregnancy tours somewhat common in China.
Tour company arranges Visas transit doctors admission to hospital delivery lying in and all social security forms for the newly minted citizen of USA.
