" I love the Internet, new people and travel. Hence, I am looking to make international friends via the net. Furthermore, I am in the process of making my mind up where in the world I might relocate. Any information or insights you can offer are most welcome and invaluable to my decision making process. If you wouldn’t have chosen to receive this e-mail then please ignore it and accept my sincere apology for wasting your time. I figure - nothing ventured, nothing gained and no new friends met so I hope you are glad to receive it and respond when you can. The Places I am Considering Barbados (Been once before might have to go again soon) Costa Rica (2nd June [TOMORROW!]- 24th June) Panama City (Undecided whether to go and when, during my time in Costa Rica, if I do) Los Angeles, California, USA (24th June - 8th July) San Diego, California, USA (8th July - 17th July) Bahamas (18th July - 28th July) Southern [Greek] Cyprus (5th August - 15th August) My ideal location would: On the coast (I want to watch the sun set into the ocean) Safe Attractive Populated by friendly locals but at least part of the year also a major centre for tourists from UK, USA, Canada etc. Have, or at least be within 5 minutes drive of, the facilities of fair sized town/city (Cinemas, book shops, garages, super market etc.) Not too humid, too often. Heat I can handle but not hot & humid at the same time. (85F combined with 65%+ humidity I find most uncomfortable and wouldn’t want to face for more than a month or two. A dry 100F+ is better than that) Have access to reliable and preferably fast and un-metered usage Internet access. Have nightlife and party people I could take a variety of evening / day classes (in English preferably but not essential) in a variety of topics. Join groups, teams and societies etc. - THIS POINT IS NOT AS IMPORTANT AS THE REST BUT WOULD BE NICE I would be really grateful for: 1- Any specific suggestions of places I should visit (and avoid) within these countries 2- Comparisons between the countries on my list from those in the know & 3- Useful general information about any or all of the countries. By the way, anyone who just figures what I am up to sounds interesting and wants to chat I’d be happy to hear from you too. I going to be roaming around over the next two months (as you can see from the above) but will check my e-mail as frequently as possible at Internet cafes. Oh yeah, any locals who know where the good Internet cafes are; that would be invaluable information. Right, last thing - some brief information about me to give any kind souls out there, who want to help me out, an idea of the kind of person you are talking to and thus what sort of things are likely to concern and interest me. I recently graduated, having studied Modern History (mainly American) at Oxford University in the UK. I am 22. My ambition to is earn my living as a professional fiction writer and or screen-writer (Yes, I am aware this message hardly reflects well on that aspiration but I am tired and in a screaming rush - my plane leaves at 7am tomorrow and I haven’t packed, paid my bills or said my goodbyes yet!) My back up, life-plan (my parents would rather it was my first choice I am sure) is Law School in the USA, if the writing really doesn’t pan out voer the next 3-4 years. Interests: Fiction (Creating and absorbing it), Cinema Health and Fitness Music (particularly Dance, Reggae (Bob & Pete T still rule the roost), Dub and ‘Chill Out’ style - Morcheeba, Portishead, William Orbit, mellow Drum & Bass etc.), Intelligent, wiitty, genuine and interesting people Politics and Current Affairs (What makes the world tick, the how and why of events that affect all of us) Travel obviously - beautiful and wild people places and scenes Partying Sassy, Smart, Sexy, Elfin faced, slim and Independent minded Women Self Improvement in all spheres Technology and the Net - I am self-confessed gadget and futurist freak Skiing, Tennis, Sailing Learning - new things, interesting things, contreversial things, risque things Dogs - Well I am British, what did you expect?! Dis Likes: Racists Sexists Ludicrous Political Correctness Cheats, Liars, Thieves (I’ve met a few) (Nothing controversial so far I hope) Cats - I love them actually but they make me very, very ill - I stop breathing eventually Governments oppressing and interfering too much in the lives of people Religion, race and out-moded concepts of nation getting between people and causing hatred and death Lack of time to experience EVERYTHING in the world People who write first e-mails that are WAY too long, so I’ll stop now and hope to hear from some lovely people out there sometime soon. Look forward to chatting, Spence "

" Why do u want to move so much??? I live in LA and its not what u see on TV. There is alot of crime and urban ugliness here. During the summer the smog is so bad that health officials tell people to stay inside...traffic is horrible!!. The people here are very shallow and only care about themselves and money. You cant swim in the water during the summer because of high bacteria and pollution in the water. Half the people here dont speak english, and if u do move here know ur way around..u dont want to get stuck in a bad neighborhood where they will shoot and kill u for ur shoes or looking at them the wrong way. You sound intelligent but LA is more for wanna-be famous people and for people that are already rich. There can be quite a bit of racism in LA between the blacks, hispanics, and whites. Im not racist but its best you move into a neighborhood (if u do decide to move to LA) where you are the same skin color. LA isnt all bad..we got beautiful weather..its sunny all year long and there is plenty to do and see. Im thinking of relocating to Tampa, fl myself...Right now Tampa is the fastest growing city in the US and is the best place to look for jobs right now. Businesses are booming there and there are tons of jobs to be had..plus nice weather and not as scarey as LA. I would reccomend Tampa to u. Its a very young city so there is a great nightlife and the sunsets of beautiful. The beach is only 10 mins away and its very safe there. Tampa has the cleanest and safest beaches in the whole US..so u wouldnt have to worry about getting the shits after u come out of the water like u do in LA. Also,,,houston texas is another nice place..right on the coast with mild weather and no humidity..but unfortunatley the smog is also very bad..Im sorry i had to tell you all that bad stuff about LA..(someone had to)but it is not what u see on TV and in books and magazines. San diego is nice but its in the early stages of turning into LA. But its still very beautiful. I hope i was of some help to u in ur decision making. "
