I'm thinking on spending some time in NYC,where do most people live?Do you feel like an outsider in Manhattan if you live in Brooklyn/Queens?Is it nice to live there and what about safety?Since I'm a distance education student and not working, what's the best way to meet people (age 20+)?Apart from rent what are the major expenses(thinking of social life/ membership fees;food/daily expenses,..)? Thank you for any advice

Hello Stephke,
I think living in the city is the best way to meet new friends. If you can afford it the upper east or Soho are great places to live. Depending on your budget you may want to consider sharing an appartment with somebody there are plenty sites that you can visit to find roommates. Cost of living in the city really depends on your way of living. Lower budgets, perhaps $30 a day if you do your own groceries. Big expenses may be insurances, utilities etc.
Let me know if you have more questions and good luck!. Eveline
