Norwegian family moving to NJ

We are moving to NJ and are looking for family friendly places as we have three kids stretching from 6 months to 6 years.
I will be working in Woodbridge but are happy to commute. If anybody could help us out recommending good family friendly communities we would be thankful.

Cheers
Robert

I live in New Jersey... about 45 minutes from where you will be working. It's really important to take your commute time into consideration as traffic can be terrible here. But, there are several wonderful family towns that are not far from Woodbridge. After looking at a map, the first town that comes to mind is Westfield. It's about 30 minutes from Woodbridge and there are several routes you can take.. some routes avoid the Garden State Parkway, which can be helpful when you listen to the traffic report and hear that traffic is bad on the parkway. Summit and New Providence are nearby (slightly further commute) but great family towns and worth looking at. A little further are Chatham and Madison. In a different direction and about a 40-50 minute commute, you'll find Warren and Basking Ridge. They are more rural... more space between homes, etc. Westfield has a great downtown, wonderful schools and is very family oriented. Summit is similar. Chatham and Madison are smaller towns with nice little downtowns.
Let me know more about your needs (schools? kids activities? rural, suburban, etc.) and I'll give you as much information as possible. New Jersey has many wonderful communities -- you just have to narrow down the options and look at them for yourself. Am happy to help! Hi Robert;

I'm a real estate agent in NJ if you need assistance with finding your next home. I grew up in Bergen County and know the area well. I also handle Hudson County. I can be reached at jchilazi@kw.com. Joelle

Hi,
Thanks for your reply. We are trying to map out the international schools as we have a seven year old son that does not speak english. At the same time we are reviewing all our options. I agree with your comment regarding the commute. We were hoping to get in contact with other expats for some advice. It can be challanging for the small ones before they learn the language.
