Hello, I am very interested in moving out of Italy to US, and I was looking for others experiences with a similar move. I am a self-employed online "entrepreneur" producer (I make music and sell it online, along with some graphic design services from time to time), and I wonder if I could still do business online, while living in the US (I'm thinking California or Florida). My business is very new but it's growing way faster than I thought and the income is getting very decent. Also since I deal with artists every single day and I make music I could apply for an artist visa...? Not really sure how that works and if I would need a sponsor. As I said I'm able to provide for myself and not looking for jobs in America as I have my own things going on. Thanks for any info provided! Cheers, Giacomo

Get in touch with an Immigration lawyer ... there should be some in your country.

The irony of it is you can enter illegally on a whim but to do it legally you have to jump through a few hoops. And, btw, Florida will be less expensive to live than in California.

Can you explain this better? haha I don't fully understand what you mean by saying enter illegally..
My options where: - wait until I have enough credits to shoot for an artist visa as I think you need to show some royalties check and great quality records that are doing some numbers as far as sales. - keep saving up for another year or 2 and buy a house, from there do a back and forth every 90 days entering as tourist every time. This wouldn't be my favorite options tho

It's always in the news .... people crossing the border from Mexico into California illegally and working. In fact I think some businesses depend on those illegal immigrants. There is even some talk about giving them legal status if they've been in the US a certain number of years. What's wrong with that picture?

I'm also italian and not mexican, meaning I got to take a plane everytime I want to get to US

Hi Giacomo,
there's plenty of people in the U.S. that run online businesses. After all, if all you need is an internet connection to do your work, you can get that in almost every city in the country.
