Hello you there,
Till recently I was a Nepali citizen. I'm working on the financial/insurance field and I have to travel frequently, particularly in the western countries. Asking visa as Nepali citizen is quite problematic, that's why I decided to abandone the Nepali citizenship and adopt the Dutch one. Át the same time I would like to buy some property (house or land) in Nepal. My question is: is there any kind of resident permit for Expatriates, which might give them right to buy land and property there without any problem?
Thanks in advance!
All the best wishes for year 2008!

It is possible to buy property not as a foreigner but as a business, Private LTD. You can be a sole owner of the business-business not house. Otherwise you would to need a Nepali relative or friend buy and trust them. You could also marry aNEpali and buy in their name. I know of no way a foreign citizen can own property outside these ways, there maybe other ways but I don't know them.

Does the marriage have to be a civil one? Specifically, even though a Buddhist marriage may not be recognized as legal for citizenship purposes, might it be enough for property ownership and longer term residency purposes? Long shot.
