Hi, Just came back from Nepal. Did a lot of sight seeing and a little trekking and simply love that country. Would like to go back for some trekking in the first 2 weeks of February. Would like to trek up the Everest Base Camp. Looking for one or more trekking partner. I am 30, Malaysia, fit but a beginner i trekking. So if anyone is keen, do email me at amutha_vijz@yahoo.com. Can't wait...

Not sure what other people have told you, but I am co-owner of a trekking company, and I cannot recommend the trek at that time of the year. EBC will be very cold - well below zero. Winter snows are still a distinct possibility, along with avalanches and blizzards. You'd better be well prepared for bitter cold and potentially hazardous conditions - if you are a beginner I would wait until April or May.

Trekked to EBC in April last year. Weather was perfect although a little chilly at times. Feb would be a bad choice. I went with two mates each of us over 60yo (smokers ans drinkers!!) and whilst a little difficult at times, presented no real problems, We walked in from Jiri which gave us plenty of time to acclimatise. Just talking the other day about going again but maybe do it the easy way this time and fly into Lukla. You don't need to book with a trekking company, just hire a porter and you can't really get lost. Lonley Planet guide is invaluable.
