Renting or Buying a Home in Nepal

June is popular time to move to Nepal. Many expats temporarily settle in furnished rentals giving them time to look for the right place to rent or buy.

Finding a good real estate agent or agency can be key! Do you have an individual or agency to recommend? Please take a minute to post the name and website for your favorite agent or agency.

If expats in your area find housing themselves -- without the help of agents, what suggestions would you have for someone starting their search? How do they find the best places?

I can give one advice for those who are interested in the wonderful mid-western city of Pokhara.Pop into the city and look around Lakeside. Ask any larger shop keeper or restaurant owner to direct you to the Pokhara Tourism Council. These people have an office in Lakeside.
The council insists of trustworthy business community members in the tourism sector. They are very eager to get foreign investment and foreigners who seek jobs in the hospitality industry and they even may have a basket full of opportunities already waiting for you. Furthermore they will assist the seekers in all official works to settle down. Nepal is changing now. Regions get much more powers to fix their needs. The centralized Governance structure of Nepal is coming to and end once the new constitution is promulgated.
