I know that all of these questions will be answered when I get there but if possible I just want to get as much info as I can before I go. I am looking on the web for people that live Here and wouldn't mind sharing.
My budget is 1000 us per month for everything. Is this a "workable" budget? Where should I look for housing and what type? I like mountains, cool air and eve3n some snow once in a while. Are these spots pretty well taken up with resort and tourist areas? Thanks, Jeff

Jeff Your budget is more than enough as long as you like to live a normal life. Use a guest house first (not hotel)so you get a feel for the area. Ride the bus in the area and make sure you can get around fine from that location. A guest house will cost about 500-1000 Rupees per night. They can be nice if you look around. Most will have a western toilet too. Some cheaper places will have only a charpi (pit) style toilet that is shares by all the rooms. Once you stay in a few places rent a flat from a local. You can get a nice place for a couple hundred US dollars per month. I have a two bedroom flat currently with a private kitchen and bathroom with western toilet and shower for about $90 a month. Keep in mind security as you choose a place to live. PM me if you want

Thanks for the insight. What brought you to Nepal? It's always those "non-western" toilets that can be such a drag :) I would appreciate being able to touch bases with you, thanks for the offer.
