1-2 Bedroom Flat needed (Thamel area)

Namaste!

I will be relocating to Kathmandu (from California) in mid-February, and plan to live in Nepal indefinitely. I have business ties in the Thamel area, and want to avoid buying a vehicle – so I’m looking for something close to Thamel (such that I can walk to work). Ideally, I’m hoping to find a 1-2 bedroom flat (with kitchen and bath), for something in the $150/month range. Unfurnished is fine, but furnished is ok too.

Please advise if you know of anything.

Thank you.

Mike Timo

Just an observation........ since you haven't received any replies........ I do not live in KTM but I have spent a couple months in the area and I HAVE researched living and moving there and I do have friends living there: $150 a month "may" be enough to live as a roommate with some other folks but I do not think you'll find what you're asking for. Sorry. That's just my observation, that's all, so please don't take any offense.

Thanks for the reply!

Actually, the problem is that almost nobody uses this site. At the same time, I posted elsewhere (e.g. KTMKTM), and found a place right away (actually, had a few different viable options) -- I didn't even have to move to a guesthouse first, but my flat was waiting for me when I arrived in Ktm!

Sorry to rain on your parade, but my wife and I own a house in Lalitpur, and we rent our one bedroom downstairs flat for around a little less than this a month, and this is outside the Ring Road. You might be able to share a bathroom with someone for 150$ a month, within walking distance of Thamel. I think that a one bedroom furnished for yourself in the vicinity of at least 250, or at least 20,000 NR a month.

No problem re the rain!!!! :)

You didn't understand my post upate. I actually had no problem finding a flat in my price range -- in fact, I had three to choose from. The one I selected is Rs 13,000 a month, furnished. Quite large, great condition, in a good area in Lazimpat. Private kitchen, bath, and living room....

Note that when people respond to these posts, usually it's by direct email, no as a post update (so other people do not see it).
