Hey everyone,

I have two questions to start with...

Water. How do you come by drinking water? Should I bring a filter system from the USA?

What kind of computer adapter should I bring? I am coming from the USA and don't want my computer to get fried or anything like that.

Thanks, y'all!

I live in Kathmandu full time. Don't worry about drinking water. You can buy 1 ltr bottles of water in the beginnning. These are about 25 rupees per bottle so less than a buck a day. Once you get a place to stay you can can buy a "jar" basin and start exchanging the 20 ltr blue plastic bottles for 50 rupees. You need to buy the base with the tap for about 360 rupees and your first full jar costs about the same or less. After that you can exchange the empty jar at many local shops for a full. Not difficult at all. You computer is safe to plug into the power as long as you have the typical box in the middle of your charging cord. Read on it and you will see input 100v-240v or something similar. This meens anything in that range is ok for your charger cord and computer. When you buy a multi-plug power strip with many plugs on it most have the plug for the US style. Some wall outlets even have them but not all. Don't worry about these two things :)

NepalBound, The above is correct but you should also buy a surge protector or power conditioner because the power spikes and browns out. Or bring a heavy duty power cable for your computer instead of the tiny travel one it usually comes with. Also in Kathmandu they are shutting off the power for several hours everyday so if you can get a battery backup or solar charger you will be set.
