Hi,
can you be more specific? What is your Nationality. If you are a Citizen of India its easy because Indians do not need a visa in Nepal. If you are from the Dominican Republic: I am afraid you are in need of a residence visa, a business visa or a study visa. Each procedure is different. What is your aim here? Retirement or Business? I can only provide more information on if you give more details here. Regards Jit Magar from Pokhara

Hi, You do not need visa but you certainly need an official I.D. like citizenship certificate or a passport if you want to enter Nepal and also when you register any business with the Department of Industry you need an I.D.to do business in Nepal. Your wife needs I.D. too. You are welcome! May I ask what kind of business you are wish to do?

Staying in Kathmandu..there are too many hotel to chose from. If you want a peaceful stay go directly from Airport or what ever Bus Park by Taxi to Boudha and check in to a Hotel inside the Big Boudha Stupa Area. Besides drums of Buddhist Monks and Prayer Folks there is no nose from Restaurants or Night Clubs like in the Tourist Hub of Thamel. There are very good restaurants in the Stupa area . If you want to settle in a small Guest-House somewhere in Kathmandu you better Google it...there are so many. Staying in Nepal? Private House etc.? Better do in Pokhara...its healthier and more beautiful. You won't get me to live in Kathmandu. To much pollution, traffic jams, dirt and noise. But that is just my personal opinion...others may love Kathmandu as it is.

Sorry for the sarcastic responses by others. You made it very clear you were Indian and wanted to stay in Nepal. Many Indian people live in Nepal. No visa needed. Just come and of course carry your citizenship/ National ID card and you wont have any problems. Happy journey

Hi and good morning to you! To find an apartment you just have to read the local English Papers or ask a Nepalese newspaper magazine shop to check Nepalese local paper advertisement for you. About starting a restaurant. I know a few people who may lease their restaurants to you. Depending on how much money you want to invest you may be able to lease or to buy something. Let me know a price indication in Indian Rupees or Nepalese Rupees or what ever currency and I will have a good look around for you. Later on it would be nice to meet you and your wife maybe.

Hi, could you please let me know whether you got a house to stay in Pokhara? If yes what's the rent that you are paying. I am also planning to move permanently to Nepal preferably to Pokhara.
How easy is it to find a house there?
Is the rent on the higher side in Pokhara?
I want to stay in Pokhara for few months and later start a business.
If you could reply to my queries then it would be really helpful to me.
Thanks

Nearly all will speak Hindi but many will speak English as well. It is common for the younger people come to Kathmandu to study. Many will have studied and returned to their village. It is good to learn a few common words and phrases but you will have no trouble finding someone who speaks some English. They may be shy to use it so keep your words simple until you know their skill level. Have fun out there visiting the Lumbini temples and prepare for the heat in summer.
