Hello there,
Am planning to migrate to nepal as this country is my dream place to live in. I have 10 years of experience in office administration and 6 years in IT. I am currently located in Mumbai, india.

I have applied to few online jobs thru their portal but havent het received any response.

Would it be advisable to visit nepal personally for few days and search for a job ?

Also, how is the standard of living out there ?

This all depends on where you are coming from and nationality. The reality is you can't just get a job here unless you are a Nepalese or Indian citizen. There are ways to get a job here but there is a process of approval and public notification. For example if I own an institute teaching English it is possible but very difficult to hire an American as my English teacher. This is because there are many English speaking Nepalese who could do the job making the need for the American teacher unfounded. Nepalese and Indian citizens are free to work and do as they choose. If you are close to Nepal and travel is not expensive then coming to Nepal in person is easier. Nepal is country of relationships. Its all about who you know. Wages in Nepal are low while house/flat rent is increasing rapidly. This has created an imbalance and therefore a housing crisis that will continue to grow. Don't expect wages to be very high. Depending on where you are from the standard of living could be much lower than you are use to. People from developed countries have difficulty adjusting to the garbage and pollution. Most find it a frustration shopping in local markets but you will get use to that over time. Taxis are a constant negative for Nepal. Taxis have improved recently but still over charge most of the time. This is one of the most common complaints by foreigners about Nepal. One quote I always keep in mind is "nothing is easy in Nepal" There are good points about Nepal. Violent crime against foreigners is very rare (theft and fraud are more common). In general the people of Nepal are kind. They are not overly helpful without pay but for daily encounters they are good. You can walk in most areas at any hour and not be harassed (men) . As in most countries a women should not walk alone at odd hours even though I have many female friends who do walk alone at night and have never had trouble. I always tell people to visit for at least a few months before moving to Nepal. After the newness wears off many change their mind and return home. I have met hundreds of foreigners who were here 20+ years ago and return remembering something that has changed completely. These people always return home after the 150 day tourist visa. People who successfully stay in Nepal are here for a reason. They must have a purpose or all the difficulties outweigh the reason someone is here. I have been here for 6 years and have two businesses. Doing business is a challenge in Nepal with their outdated expensive tax codes and not having a simple process for filing or paying taxes. Corruption is commonplace and something you have to learn how to deal with. This is far from an easy country but it has its rewards. Contact me privately if you have any other questions. :)
