I wonder if there's advice out there to help me.

My Dutch partner and myself (Brit) living in Spain want to move to NZ (to retire) to be near our grand children. My family have not yet been in NZ long to help me enter.

A New Zealander we meet on holiday in Spain told us, 'Just fly there with a one year visa, buy a house and allply to stay.' We've done our sums and know very well our investment income would be in excess of NZ$130,000 p.a. So in effect we'd be tax payers from day one, AND self suporting.

At age 60 I'm impatient to make the move.
Can anyone advise agaist the above? Has anyone entered AND STAYED in NZ using the above route.
Any advice welcome. Our thanks. David & Hinke

Hi there,

My family moved to NZ this way about 7 months ago. We did not come with the intention of retiring at this point since my parents are still young but we had no problems with applying for residency. We got the whole process done from start to finish in about a year. in between the time we got here and got recidency approved we applied for a work visa and student visa. It all went very smoothly. =-)
