If there was one thing that you wish you had known about living in New Zealand before you arrived and started to settle in, what would it be?

Most houses lack central heating. Houses can be very poorly insulated.
Electricity is very expensive. If you're used to thermostats and a warm indoor environment be careful where you rent or buy.
