Go to the official NZ web sites for this sort of info but I agree, as the other fellow wrote, that it would be best to go through your employe. Ck with your local embassy as well. But realise that even a temp visa, (I held a perm residency when I first came to teach on a 2 year contract in 95,)can take months and months to complete. If you have any previous drug or incarcerations of any type yur chances are nil . If I were you I would take a vacation here instead! Given the choice, Auckland is warmer but much more expensive. Wellington you can easily get about without a car, not likely in Auckland and house hunting there unless you are wealthy could take you most of your 6 months! Remember this is not the states and Auckland is only a small city by US standards. Wellington is far more charming. Cheers, living 2.5 hours north of Welly for almost 20 years now!
