10% tax deduction?

As the official tax return documents are now available on line, I wonder if any foreigners out there (working and living in Norway) have taken advantage of this 10% tax deduction.

I've only come across limited information on the topic. But would like to know the specifics.

I've read that your spouse can (or must) also receive this deduction. Does this apply to Norwegian spouses also? FYI: I am Canadian.

Also, I wonder if my husband should have only been deducted "half tax" in 2011 for the months we were married (as I was not working.) I must also point out, that I did not have an approved residence permit at that time, but was living here in Norway (awaiting permit approval). But still supported by my husband.

Any info or links on this topic would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks :)

Here you go:

http://www.skatteetaten.no/en/International-pages/Employee/Norwegian-employer/Norwegian-employer/Articles/10-standard-deduction/

I actually spooke with a representative at Skattvest yesterday and confirmed that I am INDEED intitled to a tax dedeuction on 10 % of my gross salary for the first 2 years working in Norway. (as long as you pay taxes on atleast 90% of your gross salary). It does NOT apply to my Norwegian husband. But would apply to a Non-Norwegian spouse.

I also learened another interesting and profitable fact. If only one spouse is working, Aka: one spouse is the sole provider: You are eligle for a tax deduction. In 2011, the max amount receiveable is just over 12,000 nok!

From Norway: 800 80 000 (08:00-15:00)

Press 9 for English menu.

From abroad: + 47 22 07 70 00

Good luck :)
