Norway Reunificatoion

Hi everyone! This is my first post, and I believe the great brains on have valuable input. My situation in a nutshell: I am an American woman engaged to a Norwegian man, both in our 40s. My (simple and amicable) American divorce will be final in April 2018 and we had planned to marry here in San Francisco in May. I'm a bureaucrat myself (ducking the flying tomatoes!) so I respect rules and processes, but a few things are a little unclear. It seems that if we marry in San Francisco and then he returns back to Norway and I submit my application from here, we are in limbo until UDI does their thing (3-7 months). I am a whiz at paperwork so I'm not worried about a subpar application. This 3-7 months thing - at best - is difficult, because I need to sell my home, give my workplace notice, train a replacement, etc., and that's all tough to do when one doesn't know when one is leaving. In doing research, it does seem possible for me to go to Norway to live with my husband and go through the process there. I understand that I will not be able to leave Norway during that time. My question is, if this is truly possible, do I just enter on a 90-day tourist visa and then we immediately go submit our application? On Day 91 of my stay, it sounds like as long as I have all the correct documentation submitted to UDI will still be legally permitted to live in Norway whilst the process takes place. Honestly I would rather sell my house, leave work, and get started on learning the language, adjusting, the new way of life, etc., from inside Norway rather than sitting here in California. One more question; if we marry and have a pending family reunification application (submitted in the US) in process, I can still go visit for a few weeks without a problem, yes? Sorry for all the questions. Thank you; I so appreciate all your feedback. Sol :)
