Moving to Muscat

Hi,
I am a 31 year old single female and was wondering if anyone could give me any advise with regards to my possible upcoming move to Oman. I grew up in the UAE and have lived and worked there as well as Lebanon and Syria so I am quite familiar with this part of the world and its culture however I've never been to Muscat. I don't feel any need to live in a big metropolitan city. However after living in Damascus, I don't think I could handle another really sleepy place either. From what I've seen and read, Muscat is fairly quiet but it does have some mod-cons like cinemas, shopping centers etc...
If there's a decent sized expat community which is not too difficult to break into and one can spend one's evening dining out with friends in nice restaurants or going to a bar or catching a movie and if I can spend my weekend days reading on the beach then I'm quite happy.
So can anyone tell me if I have the right idea re life in Muscat???
Also, can anyone give me an idea of what a decent salary would be in order to live as above and still be able to save a bit?
Much appreciated.

Dear Ms. Mercedes,
Good morning and wish you a goo day.
My name is Faisal and i live in Kuwait. I had lived in Oman for 9 months. Muscat is a nice and cool city. The Omani peopel are very gentel and love to help people as long as they repect them. The life in Muscat is nice and it is growing modern country. The people love Sultan Qaboos and they admire him very much. The have nice shooping mools and nice cultural places. I beleive the cost of living is cheaper than Dubai.

I wish you good luck and if i may say that my advise to you is to accept the offer and wish you good luck. If you need to contact me write to me at: faisl99@yahoo.com. Wish you a pleasent day.
Best regards,
Faisal

Hi Mercedes,

My company has an office in Muscat and there is some info available on our website at:
http://www.hamptons-int.com

The office provides a free residential leasing guide to the city - you can request a copy online and also view our current properties for sale of rent.

Hope this helps,
Jo
