I will be moving to Oman at the start of June and living in the Muscat area. My wife will join me at the beginning of July. We are both in our mid 20's and expecting our 1st baby in September.

Would anyone advise having the baby in Oman or would it be better to return to the UK?

Also, if anyone would like to meet up my email is: bud_221@hotmail.com

I look forward to your reply.

Hi and welcome to Oman!!
Congratulations on your new baby! I love babies so, I'm very excited for you!!!
I see no problems having a baby here as long as there is not complications at the moment. I have a lot of friends who has delivered here, but is very important to find a good doctor ahead of time. I will be leaving Muscat for the Summer, most expat do. I'll be back in August, so if your wife want me to take here around or help her out to find a doctor, just ask.
Please, make sure that your wife understand the important of drinking a lot of water speciallly now that she is pregnant!!!
I'm from Puerto Rico and I have 5 dughters. We are living here do to my husband's posting. If there is any thing I can do to help in any way, please let me know. It won't be a bother at all, I'll be very happy to help.
Talk to you later,
Nancy

Hi nancy,
Thank you very much for the information. It is sincerely appreciated. I will pass your email address onto my wife and I'm sure she will be in contact if that's ok.

Also does anyone know any good sites for finding an apartment / villa to rent? I have completed several searches through Google but not had much luck.

Also any information on which areas are nice would be appreciated. I am going to be working in the Quirim area and ideally would like to keep travelling time under 30 mins if possible.

Hello again,

Just thought I would write an update to this posting.

I have been in Muscat for over a month now and my wife recently joined me. Found a really nice villa in Qurum through Hampton's and we are slowly starting to settle in.

My wife is now registered at Muscat Private Hospital to have her baby and the facilities and service there are outstanding in comparison to the UK.

There is a good expat community at my work and a few of the Arabs also like to socialize. Most of the people are single males which is great for me but not fantastic for my wife so we are now trying to make the effort to meet other couples and my wife would love to meet expecting or young mums.

Does anyone know of any social clubs or activities for women in Muscat? She has tried to get a hold of some people from Muscat Mums but the contact details on their website appears to be a little out of date.

Any information would be appreciated and if I can be of any help to any new people moving to the area, please drop me an email.
