Hello, i am in negotiations for a job teaching in Oman, i have a housing allowance, utility & transport allowance + my wage, could someone please give me an idea what the cost of living is like in Muscat, I will need to purchase a car & find a place too. I realise there are no taxes in Oman, but what is needed for a comfortable life style.

The following should give you an idea

2 bedroom apartments OMR 400 600 Accommodation is hard to find, try to negotiate a place to stay as part of your package

Car Good enough 2nd hand RO 2000
New it depends but for a average 4x4 OMR 11000 with a monthly instalment of about OMR 300
Hire car per month OMR 120-160
Petrol is cheaper than bottle water!! and between OMR 5 and 7 to fill a normal car

Groceries for 2 -per week OMR 40
