I work in advertising as an artist and I'm based here in Dubai. Just recently I got a job offer for Muscat, Oman in another advertising firm. The salary is OR1800 which includes housing and transporation allowances. I have read and heard a lot about the quiet life and slow pace in Oman. I was also told that there are so few expats there as there are locals being the majority. What do expats do there to unwind after work and during the weekend?
Any comment, suggestion or a holler about my hesitation or curiosity would be most appreciated.

Hi MaeAbigail
Muscat is certainly NOT Dubai so we have a lot fewer clubs and bars however the activities you can do on the weekends and in the holidays MORE than make up for this...you can go to a bar anywhere in the world but you cant camp in the virgin desert or dive with dolphins or go to an idyllic desert island there!
There are loads of expats if you are in the right areas and certainly dont feel that you are in the middle of nowwhere so i wouldnt worry there. The difference I would sum up is that in the UAE you dont really see any Emiratis walking around whereas in Oman you DO see them..you are in their country after all but they are the friendliest people I have ever met so I wouldnt worry at all!
Your salary is heaps. You could easily rent a place for 1 person at about 400 rials and still have MORE than enough left over each month.
