Trying to stay in Oman for 6 months

Hello

My wife is going to work in Oman for 6 months. I would like to join her but can't see an obvious way with the visa system.

The tourist visas seem to allow me either two months with the extension or visits of three weeks at a time with three week gaps.

My questions are:

- Is there a clever combination if these I could use to stay for longer?

- If I go on a one month visa (plus extension), how long do you have to be out of the country before you can get another one?

- How difficult are work permits / employment visas to obtain if I have a good contact in a business out there?

Apologies if these are slightly crude questions but any help on getting me out there would be greatly appreciated.

Your best bet is to check the Royal Oman Police website. They have everything you need to know about visas. It's www.rop.gov.om

Thanks for this. I almost didn't follow the link because I thought I'd read about all the different types of visas. How wrong I was!

That looks a lot more promising. Most obvious ones seem to be either getting an Employment Visa or Relative/Friend Visit Visa for 3+1 months.

Any other input is still welcome though. Particularly on how difficult it is to obtain an Employment Visa.

There is a visa that you can have, I know that people at my work have their partners with them and there are many people on the website www.omanforum.com that are expat partners. Maybe join there and ask how they did it?
