American Girl in Karachi

Post New Topic

Assalaamu Alaikum,

I am a 24 year old American girl who is planning on moving to Karachi within the next year. My fiance lives there currently and has lived there his whole life. I was just wondering about any advice to be offered? Also are there many American women/wives in Karachi?

I am a muslimah so I understand the dress and the actions, as I participate in much of that already. Just wondering if there is anything i should be aware of before moving?

Jazakallah for your advice,

Daania

Dress and actions are not a prob... Karachi is pretty relaxed and most young people will wear jeans / western clothes etc.... no shorts in public etc but western wear, sleeveless etc isnt an issue

I am sure there are plenty of American wifes in Karachi...one of my ex colleagues was a 21 yr old american girl married to a pakistani ....she was from Alabama...very nice girl

i am sure in time u will find other american girls or some nice pakistani girls to be friends with....most of the educated in pakistan have all studied in the US

95% of my class from high school went to the US for Uni

good luck with the move

are u moving b4 u get married or after??

I'm also moving to Karachi in the near future to live with my husband. Could we talk some more? :) I'm a bit nervous!

Pikushi,
If you are moving now, its a a good time because the weather will be nicer .

Its ok to be nervous. Its a new country for you. So its natural. Have you visited Karachi before at all?

Please fire away all your questions and I will try to answer all of them :)

Are you in Karachi currently? I am 26 and am also moving to Karachi to marry my fiancé in early June. It would be nice to have an American friend abroad.

I'm excited, despite warnings, but I am also concerned with the anti-American sentiment over there.

Assalam alaikum,
I read your text it's good that you are moving to karachi and you know about dressing also but I want to ask personal question if you mind. The thing is that are you moving with some one or going alone because if you are going alone it will make big problem because karachi condition is not good in these days. I also try to come back home I'm not coming just because of all those things....... which area you choose for living...
