Recently, accepted marriage proposal, we both are over 40. I am an educated, woman of color. Are there any here who have pakistani spouses and can share some insight into life and living in Lahore. I have pets that I am bringing with me a cat and a samoyed. Will I have any problems walking my dog and acclimating? I am well traveled but never to Asia or India. I have some electrical items that I will bring with me I.e. iPad, pc, monitor, iPhone, laptop plus some small household items. Thanks much, Sunny

Hi Sunny, I dont have a Pakistani spouse instead I am the Pakistani spouse :) Lahore is a lovely place to live. We never had any problems as such living in DHA (Defence housing authority) which is a nicer part of this city. There is good security in this area. Walking the dog should not be a problem at reasonable times of the day. Women do walk around and drive every where here. I would suggest walking with either your husband or a servant who knows the local language too until you are more familiar with the neighbourhood. But all this depends on where you live. There are certainly other areas where it is not a common sight to see women walking their dogs. Any other questions, please fire away and someone will try to help you here.

Hi sunny, just FYI, all your appliances should be fine, I am using my laptop, ipad, etc and it works fine here. Dont bring any 110 volts apliances though.
I would suggest buying some extra power cords, an additional battery for your laptop, extra charger for ipad since these are hard to find here and the market is flooded with counterfeit products. If one of your power cords dies, you will have a back up, trust me, this can happen due to the power outages. You also need travel sockets,if you are moving from the US you can buy these at fry's or best buy super cheap. It's a great idea to bring your monitor, because moniters are expensive here. As far as clothing is concerned, you should buy some weather appropriate outfits locally, all the stuff I brought with me is useless as it gets pretty hot here. However winter clothes are a good item to bring along, as are shoes. It is virtually impossible to find comfortable shoes here. Hope this helps.

Sunny, are you a Pakistani? Have you ever visited Pakistan alone? Do you know your spouse first hand and not just through the internet? I would love to advise you if I know a little better about you. I lived in the US for 25 plus years and just recently settled back in Karachi. I can tell you its not a piece of cake. Trust, honesty, character, truth are few things that you wont find here. Its not nice in anyway accept that its little cheaper and you can break any law as long as you can afford it.
I wont say do not marry but come here, see things first hand, trust no one, and make sure some one in your close circle know where exactly you are. I will go as far as to keep a GPS phone to point your location. This is Pakistan and moving here is not a joke.

Hi All, Thank you kindly for your replies. Since having added my post, I will not be relocating to Pakistan. Best of success to all that are! Sincerely, Sunny
