I own a company in the US and want to move to Panama and obtain Permanent Residency as a "Representative of a Foreign Company". I'll not be selling anything, and not need an office that is open to the public, as I will be doing research and marketing (all sales will be done through the office in the US).

Can this be done? Can I bring my family with me? What are the costs associated with this (not moving costs, but legal fees, etc.)? Where do I start?

Also, I have concerns about the Good Health Report, as I have herpes - Is this an issue that would bar my entry? In addition, when I was 18 years old (15 years ago), I was convicted of a felony (attempting to elude a police vehicle). I paid a fine and did community service. I never did jail time and I also had all my rights reinstated. Will this bar my entry?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

The book "ABC's of Investing in Panama" deals with immigration as well as the economic, cultural, legal and financial environment to be found when doing business in Panama.
Order it for $35 from http://www.panamcham.com/business_center/publications.asp

You should consult with a Panama attorney for queries as specific as yours.
