Costa Rica and Panama, although very close in proximity, are very very distinct in culture and in turn, "needs". There are pros and cons to each.
If you're looking to determine if you are going to serve in either country, it would be best to look at what you are trying to accomplish, your resources financially, and what you are willing to sacrifice.
My in-laws faced this decision and my husband analyzed things for them before they made their decision to move to Panama. If you are comparing the two, please feel free to pm me and we can help you with your decision.
Hope this helps.

In Coronado there is a Coronado Bible Church - Pastor Tim Keim. You can reach him at [email protected]
Also there is an Enlish Grade school that is a non profit Christian school in Santa Clara. They do a lot of work with local and children in the mountains. You can get ahold of them at 507-6141-8207. School Director is MC. She is a wonderful person and is doing lots of good here in Panama.

Hello, I may be on the wrong page, but as I am here I may as well go forward. My wife and I are looking to relocate to Costa Rica as need greaters. I thought that this was for that country but see that it is for Panama. Well as we are still looking could you possibly help me get some info on English congregations on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica or even Panama as we really hadn't really considered that country.

GOD BLESS AND GOOD FOR YOU JUST DON'T SHOW UP AT MY HOUSE, my cat doesn't believe in it at all and he is one mean SOB. if you could help him see the light I would be very happy, the TSA tried in dallas but he bit one of them and the rest ran out of the room, so did I, because he scares the living shi@ out of me too, even thou I found him in the third story off my fathers home where his mother left him to die.. I think now that maybe I should have left him there to die, but I saved him to only now sit back and watch him spread his evil ways over the world..
good lord what have I done, I got him a bike a white shirt with the name tag and now he rides all over the place telling people about god and god only loves so many.... god for give me for what I HAVE DONE....
Hello and welcome... I hope you and your wife of over 50 years of what you believe will be happy here.. if you have any questions about PANAMA be sure to ask them here.. I myself believe that MY GOD could care less if I do this or that to be allowed into his kingdom. you on the other hand believe something else which is great.. we allow all types here.. I hope and wish you two all the best here during your year long stay. and much joy to you both..
again welcome and I hope you find many people of your like kind.

If you are looking for information on congregations, it first would be good to remember that Panama is a country, Given the configuration and structure of a witness congregation, you need to specify what area of the country you want to live in for a year.
If you would like to visit my blog and send me an email through there, I can put you in contact with several key individuals to help you in your search. We own a restaurant in La Chorrera and know the community well, from "witnesses" to evil overlord cats who ride bicycles.

My wife and I are Jehovah's Witnesses in our early '50s with many decades of theocratic experience and are responded to the call in Watchtower to move where the need is greater. In Jan 2014 we moved to Costa Rica, due to health reasons. We currently live in Quebradas, Morazán, near San Isidro de El General. We would be happy to answer any questions you have.

The Panamanians that I have met who are JW's are incredibly nice and honest people. They actually have real moral values. They are all around good people which we need more of in Panama. I suggest that you move to Panama. We need you here. Panama has become a cesspool of imorality overall because of the failure of the Catholic church.

Why judge by what religion or race someone is? Isn't that part of why we all wanted/or want to move overseas, so we could be surrounded by different people from different walks of life and experiences? I judge people by their words and actions, not the labels we seem to need to differentiate people.

We could do without Moslems and Santera Yoruba believers here in Panama. Oh, and those darn voodoo and hoodoo practicioners. I wouldn't mind if they left also. But, since I have no control over anything I will just try and get along best I can. I think the JW's are pretty nice folks though. We could stand a lot more of them.

Then why when the neighbors see a group of them coming down the road, does everyone go out and lock up their gates, alert their neighbors, disappear off the streets. and let their dogs out. I always wondered about that.

You just don't realice how many lonely elderly people let the JW's in so they can talk about the condition of the world. JW's are safe and nice to talk to. Dress nice and are very respectful too.

You don't have true freedom of religion if you ban Santeria and voodoo.
|
|

11/25/2014 13:45 EST
Who here was talking about banning Santeria Yoruba? Or, hoodoo or voodoo? Actually, Santeria Yoruba exists here in a big way and no one even talks about it. These cult members go to the Catholic church and then practise this religión at home. Usually in secret because it is not mainstream or accepted here. I don't condon these practises but they exist here in a big way and people should know that they exist. That is all. I don't consider someone who practises Santeria a good neighbor myself, but it is what it is. Noriega was a Santera for example. Many criminals use this faith system because they believe that the old African Gods will protect them.

People believe what they want to believe. As long as it is harmless and they advocate positive values it is okay. I think the worst religion is Islam because it causes so many problems in the world. All religion is based on faith rather than science. So if you have faith you can be a believer. The most important thing is that each individual thinks for himself and makes his own decision. Don't be a follower. My favorite book is "The True Believer" by Eric Hoffer. It was published in 1950 and was one of President Eisenhower's most recommended books. If you want to understand what ISIS is all about then read this book. What was written back then applies to what is happening today.

Muslem people individually are some of the nicest folks you can meet. The religión as a whole is another story. They want to come to Panama, have large family's, and then someday, when they are the majority, institute sharia law. Once they are the majority then its a different story all together. All other faiths play second fiddle once Islam is in place. It won't be long and France will be an Islamic nation for example. All done without firing a shot. Luckily I will be dead before this problem visits Panama.
