Looking to meet expats 55 and up

We'd like to meet a few English-speaking expats, to get their perspectives on living in Panama City. We are not looking for loud music, heavy drinking, or outdoor adventure; my husband is using crutches much of the time. Suggestions of where we might go are welcome!

Those are 2 of the reasons that I did not move to Panama City. Loud music and heavy drinking. You might want to look at Coronado, El Valle, Boquete or Volcan. Panama City, is a city, big time. Constant fender benders, honking and street noise. Insanity when it comes to driving. I walk faster to places than it takes a cab to get me there. I am a hiker and a walker, and Panama City is not a great walking city. Sometimes sidewalks just end or become big holes in the ground. Sometimes there is no place to continue walking. Entertainment, there is a lot of......it's nice to walk the streets of El Congrejo at night time. Panama City can be a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there. That's a personal opinion from a country boy that grew up in a city of 5 million in North America. There may be 2 million people in Panama City who disagree with me. To each, his own.....jT

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news....no matter where you go in Panama you will be subjected to insanely loud music, seemingly daily fiestas and of course...drinking. 24/7. Don't worry about outdoor activities....except for the mountain areas it's too hot to do much of anything outside. This is a third world country. governments control the populations of third world countries by keeping cheap liquor readily available and giving the people plenty of fiestas to help them forget about their miserable lives. Not only are the Panamanians drunk...a good percentage of expats are as well. Hard not to be when beer and rot gut liquor is incredibly cheap. There are gated communities in Boquete and Coronado where you can escape the Panamanian insanity. I live 4 hours from PC and have no desire to ever go into the city again. It is a mad house...traffic, noise, rude behaviour, too many people and crime. But. it's has been said before...each to his own.
