Yes- there is information on the Forum for the Gold Coast Shuttle transfer services to and from the Gorgona, Coronado each areas and Panama City and PTY.. They provide English speaking Drivers with Panama licences, Cedulas and insurance . They do Panama airport service and day trips, shopping and the like- all our friends use them regularly and claim they provide a great service.
Just contact them by email at GoldCoastShuttle@GMail.com

It depends; The air tickets are $116 (plus fees?) per person. Cars are $35 per day. So how many people and how many days?

Don't forget the insurance on the rental cars. That can be expensive,.
The bus is $17 and goes express with only a stop in Santiago for food and bathroom break.

Our rental car out of Tocumen Airport was super inexpensive when it came to the "daily rate" but with insurance it cost $330 for the six days we had it (in October 2012).

Due to eye problems.Driving on unknown roads. Is not a good idear for me. No night. . My lady does not like driving. No less in a foreign land. She is really not for buses. I have NO problem if they are like Mexico with 3 different grades. The upper were Fine better than US. The top were Better than most business class airliners. Is their an yplace I can get a view or run down on the express buses.

I should also say, most importantly but forgotten to address, is that we rented an SUV. ( A Toyota RAV 4 for the week.) I do not know, to be fair, what the cost of a sedan or compact car would have been, but we wanted the car for its size and 4 wheel drive.

If you are coming to explore, then the 4 wheel drive isn't as important as the clearance. There are lots of roads that are fun to explore, but are kind of rough. So, yea, you usually have to get a 4x4 to get the clearance.

Of course it is cheaper to rent a car and drive to David (7 hours) than to fly into David (45 minutes), but what is your time worth. I prefer to fly because there is not a lot to see on the Pan American highway, and I have seen it all before. Now to stop along the way in various places, now that is a different story. There are a lot of nice places along the way to stop in and visit......I could make you a tour that would take you a week to get to David......
