Can anyone recommend a hotel in Panama City ? I am coming in December, the first time in Panama since the 70's. There will be 2 of us and about in the mid-range price. Thank you

The best hotels in Casco Viejo are: American Trade Hotel, Canal House, Las Clementinas, and Tantalo Hotel. You can check out the reviews and rates for each on Tripadvisor. Good luck.

La Estencia is my favorite Bed & Breakfast in the old Canal Area. Owned by a great Asian couple, Gustavo & Tammy Lu,it is located in an old U.S Military NCO quarters building converted to the best B&B in the area. Great animal watching at breakfast from their balcony.

Can you tell me you would not recommend the historic part of Panama CIty ? It seems that is the interesting part of the city ? I will be a newbie when I visit in December.

I am also "scouting" for future re-location.

Casco Viejo is fine to visit & spend the evening, but I would NOT stay over night there. I like El Cangrejo & it is a safer area to walk around at night & with Via Argentia & Uruguay nearby by more reataurantes/cafés, clubs & casinos in walking distance. Also super mercado, shopping, drug stores, etc.
