My first visit to Panama

I've just returned from my first trip to Panama, an 8 day trip; my mission was part of an ongoing search for where I might want to settle. I won't try to make a comprehensive report on my whole trip but I'll just highlight where I went and if anyone wants specific information I'll be glad to respond in more detail.

I made a quick visit to the lock and then flew out to Bocas for a couple days, then took the shuttle to Boquete for 4 days which included an abbreviated day trip to Volcan and Cerro Punta. Finally, I took the bus to David and then flew back to PC for my flight home the next morning.

Unlike some of the earlier posts, I could be quite content in Panama, in particular, in or around Boquete. However, in the future I think I would find some place to go while the Flower and Coffee Festival is in full swing. I think everyone in and around Boquete can tell you when the noise stopped each morning (4 a.m.). Still, that festival is only 10 days each the year.

I should mention that while in Bouquete I stayed at one of PanamaJames's apartments and it was a great place to stay. Jim had arranged for John and Debbie to meet me at the shuttle stop in Boquete and they helped me get settled in the apartment. The furnished apartment was exactly as Jim had described it -- everything up to North American standards. That means a gated, locked complex, complete kitchen, WiFi and Ethernet, TV with Directv, DVD player, hot water, and the nicest, thickest towels I've ever used! Even the laundry was available to me, if needed. I suppose his various properties vary but this is what he had for me and I was very pleased. So thanks to Jim, John and Debbie.

In a followup posting I'll describe the only problem I had, and it had nothing to do with Panama; it was my blocked email ... for 6 days!! Argh!!

tbh
