ISO ESL Class or Tutoring Session to Observe

New Topic Newest First

Hello everyone!

I am a recent university graduate who has been staying in Panama City for the past few months with family. I'm currently in the middle of receiving my TEFL certification and am looking for an ESL class or tutoring session to observe. Hopefully before I return to the U.S., I would like to try offering a few ESL lessons of my own. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm located along Via Argentina and have access to transportation.

Hello,

For those "oldies" what language are you speaking? What is ISO and ESL and TEFL? Sorry, I guess I've been retired too long. Some of us can't help if we're not sure what you are asking. Again, very sorry for not understanding.

TEFL = teaching English as a foreign language
ESL = English as a second language

Oh no problem! That was my mistake. Thank you for pointing it out!

It is as tijo50511 clarified.

I'm searching for classrooms or tutoring sessions where English is being taught. I'm in the process of completing my certificate so I would be qualified to teach English as a foreign language.

I thought I had a restriction on number for characters for topic subject so I used an acronym. ISO stands for In Search Of. That might only be common on rummage sale sites. Now I know not to use in a future post!

Thanks tjo50511 , I also was out of the Loop on the terminology

Thank you for our lesson. My Granddaughter sends me text messages and most of the time I don't have a clue what she is saying. She says "Oh Grandma, you need to get modern." and I say, "Honey, have you heard the term, can't teach an old dog new tricks." She say's No, what's that mean? I say "Oh Gabby (her name), you need to get OLD."

Little chuckle for the day.....Again, thanks

I'm glad it made you chuckle BoqueteGirl! Love the story. Sounds very familiar...

It was also a reminder for me to spell out any acronyms especially job specific ones so thank you!

Hopefully someone will have some information now haha

ISO is a common computer techy term. If you make an ISO of a program, you are making a CD or DVD of that program for later retrieval. It is also the International Organization for Standards......

Thank you panamajames for pointing that out. My mistake for using a confusing acronym.

If there is anyone in Panama City that is currently teaching English in a classroom or tutoring setting and wouldn't mind if I observed, I would greatly appreciate it. Even if it is pointing me in a direction, that would help too.

In the meantime, I will continue to search on my own. I'll be checking out Florida State University in Ciudad del Saber.

If you go to FSU ask for Wendy, Isabel or Fanny in admin, tell Lou says "hola". Anybody know what FUBAR means.

Muchas gracias!! I'll be going this Saturday and will let you know how it turns out.

Now I'm not sure if you're joking or seriously asking haha

Appears to be military slang. I'll let someone else answer =]
