Stupid Gringo Tricks

Let's help to keep this one rolling. There are many folks who come here to visit, and leave their brains back home. You are fueling an industry of theft here. Please stop doing this and help those of us who live here. Here is a story of a stupid Gringo trick. Two or three days ago, a Gringo turns up at the Police Station in Boquete. Help me, he said. I have been robbed. The police sit him down and bring out some paperwork. How did this happen sir? Well, I was lying on my bed this afternoon, counting my money (as many Gringos do) and I had enough left from the $10,000 in cash that I brought with me, to buy a motorbike. I had $7000 left. I live in a mainly Panamanian area, but I didn't see anyone following me home, or watching in my window. Anyway, I wanted to get some snacks at the store, so I put my $7000 in a book I was reading on the bed, and left it there on the bed. I went to the corner store, maybe only 10 minutes away, and when I came back, the money was gone. I didn't lock my door as I was only going away for a few short minutes, and I feel safe in my neighborhood of mostly Panamanians. Can you help me. The police took the report, drove the man home, and told him that they would investigate and get back to him. Just how many things did he do wrong here? He says that he has learned his lesson. If you believe that you are not being watched as a Gringo almost continually if you are living in a mainly Panamanian area, you had better think again...............Some people will know your every movement and wait for an opportune time. Some Panamanian thief has a stash of cash, and is realizing how easy this can be, to rob Gringos..........
