We (husband, self and teen daughter) plan to visit Panama for the first time in October 2015. We want to explore the country as much as possible, so are looking for a central base or two. We fly in to PC, but don't really want to stay in the city (not really interested in PC) We plan to rent a car. We are concerned about safety, although I'm originally from CA US, so am alert and bring my brain with me when traveling. We won't do much tourist activities (except hit the beach a bit.) I have researched for about a month and am feeling overwhelmed and under informed. The choices are vast and incredibly varied. Can anyone recommend a contact to assist us in choosing a vacation rental, based on preferences?

Happy to help you and show you around the beaches and places that you might want to see while here in Panama. Email me and let me know your time of arrival in October. We have a place for you to stay while here............

Driving to and from Boquete will eat up most of 2 days but you can fly to David on Copa fro PTY at a relatively low cost. Dont spend all your time traveling. Your plan for 1-2 locations is doable. Boquete has a lot of activities for families - ziplining, hiking, ww rafting etc. Beaches are 2 hours from town. There are many places to stay near town. Don't sell PC short, they have a lot to see and do as day trips as well. We also have our own "groupon" www. ofertasimple. com(no spaces) has great deals on entertainment.

By the way, beaches are only 1 hour from Boquete, and I made it once at break neck speed in 45 minutes. There are beaches all along the Pacific shoreline, at all different amounts of time to get there. Las Olas is an hour, Las Lajas is an hour and a half, maybe 2 hours with construction underway on the highway. Boquete is a great place to setup shop and wander the country.

Hi, I'm Sheila from XS. My small motel is in Santa Clara, Cocle, it's at km 113, outside the city. I have a casita for rent at that as of today fully furnished with two bdrs., kitchen, WIFI, pool lot's of birds, this is a small motel, and restaurant. From here, you could do a day trip up to El Valle. my web site is wwwxsmemories.com I understand your driving issues, my son lives in LA, CA. it's less cars here but dumb drivers. Good Luck!

I would stay 2 days in P.C. 1 nite in El Valle, 2 days on a Pac beach, Probably Coronado or DeCameron & 2 days in Boquete. ~~ Lu

You won't see much in Panama in 1 week unless you plan to charter a helicopter. I would suggest 3 weeks minimum.
