My husband and I are traveling to Panama in February and we are trying to narrow down where to go while there. We are flying into PTY but are not opposed to taking a trip to Boquete or elsewhere. Suggestions? Thank you in advance!

Hi
It really depends what you are coming to Panama for...holiday? Looking to retire/relocate...
If you are coming for a holiday and want to see the sights then stay in the city, you have the locks, ancon hill, casco viejo, summit national park, fish markets...the list goes on...or if you wsnt a beach/pool holiday...come out to the beaches 90 minutes from the airport.

I can organise trips/transport from the airport or hire cars as well as rentals at the beaches...just let me know if i can help.

Regards
Lorna

5 days is not very long to see much. I tend to agree with Lornac that if you're here on vacation, stay in the city and see the sights or go to the Coronado/beach area. If you're thinking of retirement, you'll need to plan a longer trip. You can fly from Panama City to David and take a bus or taxi to Boquete, but there is so much to do here that a few days just isn't enough time!

If you do the city and Coronado beach trip, make the 45 minute drive up the mountain to El Valle. It's beautiful, smaller and with less gringo attitude than Boquete.

Hi
Jonoyakker is right, El Valle is a must if you come out towards the beaches... It is one of my favourite places here! We actually live in Las Uvas which is on the road to El Valle...

I suggest, one day el valle, day 2 Coronado/san carlos surf camp (for food, drinks, beach and relaxation) or beaches nearby. one day each, as you can still stay in the city and take a bus. you can fly to Boquete or bocas del toro if your budget allows. best way to go otherwise by bus but takes too long.

Coronado is an anonymous satellite community unbearable hot like death valley. Mosquitoes and sand flies the beaches are ugly the restaurants suck. For good food you have to travel to South America or Asia
If you like to live in solitary Boquete, Volcan and Bocas are ok. Altos del Maria is the best of all these isolated areas. Keep in mind It can take more than 5 hours to from PTY through the city and across over the canal to west panama.
If you cant afford to travel for at least one year then you are not fit to relocate.
