I was looking at expedia to rent a car in Panama for my 2 weeks in June. Actually found a great price for a SUV costing around $250 for the two weeks. That doesn't include insurance so does anyone know what the cost would be for the insurance during that 2 week span. Expedia offers insurance but I don't want to get that insurance and then find out it's not the proper insurance coverage once I get to Panama. Any suggestion or advice would be appreciated?

Expect to pay around $25. to $30. a DAY in insurance. You must take their liability. The only insurance Panama will accept is THEIR'S. The last time we rented a car several years ago, we paid $120. a week in car rental with another $150. in insurance. It is about the same $$ with any agency. We found Thrifty to be the best.

Well I guess I could call Panama if I had a phone number. I reserved through Expedia and they didn't show the phone number for the Hertz in Panama

@John63
I ran across that as well...No phone # posted. I would be prepared to pay at least $50. per day. (Total) Good luck. Just to let you know, we found Hertz to be the most expensive, Just our experience. You can also save money by NOT renting at the airport. We saved a bundle renting downtown PC.

normally "thrifty" and "dollar" have the best deals and they are open 24/7

I found a Nissan SUV for $250 for two weeks. However it does not include insurance. The insurance could actually run double the cost of the actual rental based on what some of you have described here.. Thanks for everyone's input.

Hi Typically, car rental companies are cheap for the cars then hit you with big insurance bills!
I know of a few companies that are reasonable and include insurance...
Gold coast Autos and Beaches autos are both based in Coronado.
Auto Estillo is in the city.
