Hi - are there places in Boquete (other than the Tuesday gringo market) where ex-pats get together? We're here for a few months and would like to meet some people. Michelle

Hello,
Not sure what you are asking...??? But on Friday's at the Fish House in Boquete you will find a lot of Expats. They are friendly and love to talk. They usually get together around 4 or 5 in the afternoon. Just stop by and say HI

Just about any public place in Boquete will have a few expats. Try Sugar and Spice at any time, Mike's Global Grill on Wednesday nights, The Fish House early Friday night, every other Tuesday is Trivia Night at the Amigos de Animales clinic in Alto Boquete - newcomers are always welcome, and finally Romero s grocery store always has a few gringos shopping!

@Ilseldon
Craig left Boquete. Rumor has it he is in Columbia. He told me that he was not renewing his lease because the owner wanted 3k a month. So he went on to cook at the restaurant at Escondido and he opened the Fish House and leased the Bistro. He decided to leave Panama after his wife left him and he got into the nose candy. His issues were getting very large, so off he went. When he left Boquete, he sold the Fish House to the kids (Panamanian) who now own it (Johnne and Mingo) He taught Mingo how to cook and so Mingo continued with the great Fish and Chips and Slaw and expanded the menu a little. But most of the menu is still Craigs. Those kids have become very good friends of ours and absolutely love them. They truly care about customer service, which as you know, is rare in Panama. Craig's wife was from Boquete and she and the kids are still here. Now you have the update. Don't know Frank.

BoqueteGirl so what is Las Ruinas use for now, new restaurante? I've got a photo of Frank, you might recognize him, he was the sole survivor of his unit in VN, lost an eye, think he's usually at the Tuesday gathering at the BCP, wonder if he is still in Boquete. Do you know Vince & Maricarmen Crain, Vince is from NY?

@Ilseldon. Are you referring to "One eyed Frank" who had the Italian restaurant? If so, I believe he went back to the states. Las Ruinas reopened as a cafe and Saturday market where people come and set up tables to sell stuff. Don't know the others you mentioned.

Expat hangouts in Boquete include Mike's Global Grill, Sugar and Spice, Big Daddy's, The Rock, the Sandwich Shop and the City Perk at City Park. Last time I spoke to Craig, a long time ago, he was selling all his stuff, and I bought his King Size bed for one of our apartments. He said he was leaving for Roatan Honduras, to operate a restaurant there. One eyed Frank worked the Jungla restaurant in Palmira before heading back to the US. Great pizza and Italian food. New restaurants everywhere in Boquete now, over 50 at last count. I kinda miss this Expat Exchange. Someone e-mailed me about this post. Got hired full time by the Federation Bank, opening up high interest Expat bank accounts in English. Took up most of my spare time it seems. Hope to get back for visits here more often. I miss the interaction. See you soon. E-mail anytime [email protected]
