I am wondering how Panama job market is functioning? Any opportunities for people like me?
Please share your experience with a job market in Panama.

First you need to have permanent residency and a work permit. However unless you are the top in your field or have very rare specialized skills you are unlikely to earn enough to pay the bills.
Salaries are typically less than $1000.

This article is posted on another topic and gives good insight.

I am sure someone will say that you can work for a multinational however as I said earlier that is not likely unless you have exceptional and rare skills that can't be found locally.

As stated in the article
"Companies can hire you and sponsor you for a work permit, but this costs them time and money, so if you don’t have a valuable skill you can offer, it will be hard to convince them to hire you over a Panamanian. Expats also sometimes move to Panama without a good understanding of what local salaries are like. Most jobs pay less than $1000 a month, and if you move here to try to live and work as a local, but haven’t budgeted properly based on local salaries, you are in for a rude awakening."

This will take you to current IT job listings. However without a working level of Spanish these will not be viable options.

I own a management consulting firm that I plan to also incorporate in Panama. Sweet spot is program management for technology and system integration projects. Just beginning to look into this so I can't predict the success for such a business. Since I am supposed to be retiring early, this is not a top priority. But I will keep you posted on progress.

this Guatemalan guy:
https://www.ted.com/talks/luis_von_ahn_massive_scale_online_collaboration?language=en
created duolingo.com to make it easier for poor people to access and learn English. he said that people who graduate from IT go to work at banks instead of being entrepreneurs and making or inventing something (at least in Latin America). in panama bilingual people work in banks with aprox. $500/month salaries, including bankers or IT personnel who are bilingual. if you wanted to become a professor of some sort, I would say there is probably a better chance or maybe better $$ to make. if you still want to work in panama, try googling banks and see if they are offering jobs. get signed contract before you pack your bags and go. there are some usa universities here too.
