I need a little help. The closest big town to me is Santiago.
I have a new home and need a lot of furniture. There is virtually
no selection of quality furniture in the area. Does anybody know
of a quality furniture store in the Coronado, Chame area. I'm
trying not have to go to Panama City. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance, Jim Welch

There are a few stores around Coronado that sell some furniture, but not really any furniture stores. For a decent selection of new furniture you will probably have to go into the City. if you don't mind second hand, you will often find expats advertising furniture for sale- some of it is pretty good.

You may get lucky with someone selling their furniture; however sorry to say you have to go to the city; to find a better selection. Sheila

If you are closer to David than you are to PC, try Furniture City - they have 3 stores in PC and one in David.

check for furniture in craigslist, or playacomunity newsletter for furniture, all you will need is a truck and also check for termites in the wood furniture. there is a big building called el palacio del mueble on the panamerican hwy,i haven't been there but looks like a big building.

Friday 23 to Sunday September 25 are the dates for the Expo Furniture in Las Islas of the Atlapa Convention Center. Exhibition of furniture, accessories and decoration.
It will include participation of Brazil, Mexico, Italy and Panama. You will find furniture for home and office, outdoor furnishing lightining etc. (I read it in the newspaper).

For mid Range prices of furniture in Panama the store is Furniture City in Via Espana.

Upscale furniture BBK and Addison House are some of the stores.

Inexpensive Price Smart I think there is one in the Panamerican Highway.

Or buy from people that are leaving the country. You get good quality furniture at discounted price.

If you like contemporary furniture then try Tempo. Also, if you want custom built kitchens or media centers, etc., try Brasil Prime.

One man's quality is another man's junk. That said, ditto Panama2017's recommendation for Tempo Design, an Ecuadorean company. They have a website so you can pre-shop. My 3-year-old furniture from there is holding up well. If that is too mid-range for you, in PTY you can find the best European quality furniture: Roche-Bobois, Natuzzi, B&B Italia, BoConcept, to name just a few. There are also the American quality furniture companies Knoll and Herman Miller. Check out a Nicaraguan company that makes furniture from tropical hardwoods called Simplemente Madera. They have a website and a showroom in PTY. They furnished the American Trade hotel in Casco Viejo. They do custom design if stock pieces are not to your taste.
Please remember that all prices are negotiable. To furnish a whole house you can bargain for up to 60% off.
Good luck!
